Vikings head coach Brad Childress reportedly visited quarterback Brett Favre at his home in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Childress claims that the visit was in no way related to see if Favre planned on retiring or not, but to simply see how he was doing since the season for the Vikings has been over for 5 weeks now. However, Favre did ask Childress when he would need to know of Favre’s future. Childress told him in reply that he did not come down to see him for that, therefore it was not an issue. I can’t wait for another off-season like this again.

The Carolina Panthers made a tough decision today, cutting the only quarterback in franchise history that led them to the Super Bowl: Jake Delhomme. General manager Marty Hurney began to cry as he called to release Delhomme. Head coach John Fox was in tears as well, pleading for the fans to remember the good moments of Delhomme’s career with the team. Matt Moore is expected to be announced as the starter next year to lead the Panthers. It is always sad to see the end of an era, but Delhomme was no longer performing to his old potential.

Former New England Patriots player Mosi Tatupu has died at the age of 54. Tatupu played a total of 13 seasons in the NFL, all with the Patriots. As a matter of fact, he was a favorite of the Patriots fans because of his passion for the game.

Currently, Tatupu was the running backs coach at Curry College in Massachusetts. Tatupu also will leave behind his son, Lofa, who is in the NFL and currently plays for the Seattle Seahawks.

Chargers Release Tomlinson

Running back LaDainian Tomlinson has been released from the Chargers after nine seasons with the team. Over those nine seasons, Tomlinson rushed for 12,490 yards with 138 touchdowns. Tomlinson is now 30-years-old and has had declining numbers so this move is not unexpected by anyone in the league, including Tomlinson himself.

It will be interesting to see which team Tomlinson will now choose to go to begin a new career. Since he is still only 30, I would say that he has at least another three to four years of solid production.
