Ricky-Williams-Dolphins

I’m sure we all remember a time when Ricky Williams was the laughing stock of the NFL. It was a time where we all laughed and thought Ricky Williams was one of the craziest athletes to ever hit the scene.

However, after returning back to the NFL after a “soul searching period”, he has truly come back with a vengeance. Last night against the Panthers, Ricky Williams led the Dolphins to a 24-17 win. Williams ran for 119 yards and scored three touchdowns.

As a result of his huge game, Williams has now put himself into the Dolphins history books, becoming only the fifth player in franchise history to score multiple touchdowns in at least ten or more games.

Looks like Ricky Williams is having the last laugh on all his critics.

Heat Pound Knicks

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

“MIAMI — Dwyane Wade knows they all won’t be this easy.

Wade began defense of his NBA scoring title with 26 points, Jermaine O’Neal finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds, and the Miami Heat opened with a 115-93 win over the New York Knicks on Wednesday night.

New starting power forward Michael Beasley scored 21 for Miami, which made 26 of 31 shots in a staggering 20-minute stretch spanning the second and third quarters, turning a close game into a blowout.

“Pick your poison,” Beasley said. “When we all play like that, it makes the game a whole lot easier.”

Here’s one way to put that absurd Heat shooting spree into perspective: Miami missed fewer shots (five) in more than 1 1/2 quarters than New York’s Al Harrington did (six) in the second quarter alone.

David Lee scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds for New York. Danilo Gallinari added 22 off the bench for the Knicks, who were 10 of 39 from 3-point range.

“We couldn’t make shots and couldn’t stop them,” Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni said. “That’s not a good combo.”

New year, same old Knicks. I thought the Knicks were going to be able to make a statement tonight, but I guess not. The Heat completely dominated this game.

Witnesses in Uconn Killing Threatened

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

“STORRS, Conn. — University of Connecticut police say witnesses to the killing of football player Jasper Howard are being threatened with violence if they come forward with evidence.

Maj. Ronald Blicher tells the student newspaper, The Daily Campus, that the threats are being made in Internet postings and police are looking into them. He says authorities are still urging people to submit videos, photos or other information.

Howard, a Miami native and starting cornerback for the Huskies, was stabbed outside a university-sanctioned dance early Sunday, hours after helping his team to a homecoming game win over Louisville.”

This whole story is just so pathetic. How could witnesses be threatened in the killing of college football player, on campus no less? The thing to focus on here is the death of a college student. An innocent life was taken away for no reason.

Magloire Signs with Heat

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

“MIAMI — Reserve Jamaal Magloire has re-signed with the Miami Heat, giving the team four centers under contract.

Restricted free-agent center Joel Anthony re-signed Monday. The Heat also have starter Jermaine O’Neal and seldom-used Mark Blount.

The Heat announced Wednesday they had reached an agreement with Magloire, an unrestricted free agent. He said entering offseason he “absolutely” wanted to stay with the Heat, and teammate Dwyane Wade praised his contribution as an enforcer.

Magloire appeared in 55 games for Miami last season, with 12 starts, and averaged 2.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 12.9 minutes. The nine-year veteran has career averages of 8.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and 23.2 minutes. He was an All-Star in 2004.”

Magliore is a good center and this was an expected signing off the Heat. However, to have four signed centers on an NBA roster is a bit much and it is confusing to me as to why the Heat have done this. Wade wanted him to stay which is why he was re-signed, but why Anthony and Blount? Not too sure about those two guys, but Magliore and O’Neal are golden.
