Chargers Release Tomlinson

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Running back LaDainian Tomlinson has been released from the Chargers after nine seasons with the team. Over those nine seasons, Tomlinson rushed for 12,490 yards with 138 touchdowns. Tomlinson is now 30-years-old and has had declining numbers so this move is not unexpected by anyone in the league, including Tomlinson himself.

It will be interesting to see which team Tomlinson will now choose to go to begin a new career. Since he is still only 30, I would say that he has at least another three to four years of solid production.

NFL Divisional Playoffs: I’m 2/2!

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

I love watching the NFL playoffs, I don’t know about you. All I know is that I’m 2/2. My picks for today are the Vikings over the Cowboys and Chargers over the Jets. Let’s just see if I can pull-it-off.

One day after signing with the San Diego Chargers, this 35 year-old offense lineman Jon Runyan says that at the end of the season he’s going to retire and run for Congress. Does he really think he is qualified for the job? This is the problem with today’s society. So many celebrities, who have no experience whatsoever in politics, are turning out to be our representatives. Actual issues with actual people’s lives involved are being determined by sports athletes, actors (who play pretend), and even musicians.

I have nothing against this guy personally, but I just can’t stand the fact that somehow celebrities are becoming the leaders of this country.

L.T. sits for Chargers’ game-winning drive

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

The Chargers may have lost more than LaDainian Tomlinson’s first lost fumble in three years in the first quarter of Monday’s 24-20 win in Oakland.

Tomlinson rolled an ankle on the play, which limited him to just 13 plays and kept him on the bench as the Chargers made a game-winning drive in the game’s final minute.

It wasn’t apparent during the game, however.

I know in college it must really bother a player, but when you are a multi-millionaire, spoiled NFL player, do you really care about the game anymore?

Rivers’ Contract Extended

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Quarterback Philip Rivers signed a six-year contract extension yesterday with the Chargers worth $93 million, with $38 million guaranteed.

A person familiar with the contract confirmed the numbers but requested anonymity because the team did not release any figures. The deal goes through 2015.

Rivers is coming off his best pro season, when he set a team record for touchdown passes with a league-high 34.

Why are all these quarterbacks getting very high salaries all of a sudden? Rivers and Manning, are these the two best quarterbacks in the league? I believe they are not.
